Oh Lord. I am deeply saddened and at a loss for words by this terrible news, which came in just now. Michael Dubruiel, husband of Amy Welborn, and my friend and book editor at Our Sunday Visitor Publishing Company, died suddenly today, of what appears to have been a heart attack. I have no more details other than what was posted on Amy Welborn’s blog.
Please pray for the repose of Michael’s soul, and for his grieving widow and children. He was a very good man.
Very sad. My prayers are with Amy and her family.
His family will be in our thoughts, and he will be in our prayers. This is truly a dark and despondent moment for all who knew and loved him. Peace.
I went and prayed a rosary last night in a perpetual adoration chapel near my house. It was the least I could do, given the fact that Amy has written so many wonderful articles over the years that have helped me so much. I remember the one she wrote on the weird spirituality of Oprah. I liked it so much I emailed her and gave her props.
If, like me, you don’t know either of them personally as Patrick does, make sure you pray for Michael. Tears are normal and certainly part of the grieving process, but Michael might need those prayers right now.
I got the news last evening just before I left work at 9. Shocking. My prayers go out to his family. May he rest in peace. 🙁
May he rest in peace and may his family know the mercy of God’s love and consolation.
Michael was one of my favorite authors. I felt like I got the wind knocked out of me when I saw the news and I’ve been in tears since. We exchanged a few emails back and forth regarding his books and Archbishop Sheen, and he was always wonderful. I am just crushed by this.
sadness and prayer.
