Gov. Christie Veto Shuts Down Abortion Clinics in NJ

This wonderful government de-funding gesture could not have been aimed at a more deserving group of abortionists. I particularly love the last forlorn line in this snippet from the article on LifeNews.com:

After the New Jersey state Senate defeated an attempt to override the decision of Gov. Chris Christie to cut off state taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood abortion businesses, the first facility run by the national abortion giant is closing.

The Cherry Hill Courier Post newspaper says a Planned Parenthood facility located on Haddonfield Road and operated by Planned Parenthood of Southern New Jersey will close down.

PP-SNJ stands to lose as much as $160,000 in taxpayer funds because of Christie’s decision and the upholding of his veto. With the closing of the Cherry Hill center, Planned Parenthood customers seeking abortions or other “services” must go to PP centers in Camden, Bellmawr, and Edgewater Park.

Parenthood of Southern New Jersey president Lynn Brown told the newspaper, “We are in think mode and creative mode and we are doing all that we can to try and salvage to see as many people as we need to see.”

“We all know it’s strictly ideological,” Brown said of the funding cuts to the abortion business. “This is a very frustrating and perplexing time for us.”

Ah, that is truly wonderful news, Ms. Brown! I’m one of many millions of Americans who are hoping and praying that this lack-of-funding situation gets much more frustrating and perplexing for the “abortion business.”

I am very happy about this issue, we saved babies! I just wish he was like this in others. I live in New jersey and am very disappointed in Gov. Christie, he does not know how to keep the human person in issues and all he and his followers think about is money. I happen to be a republican but I doubt I will vote for him again, he bullies people, is for cap and trade, etc. and if you check him out on Youtube you would see how he treats people. It does make me laugh because if he was a democrat people would be raising the roof. I believe he is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Pray for him and all our politicians!

    Not so fast.

Christie has described himself as "pro-Choice."

He has donate to Planned Parenthood in the past himself.

As this article makes clear, the governor's office took pains to assure anyone worried about it that state-funded abortions continue in other facilities.

"Christie has personally donated to Planned Parenthood in the past, so don’t listen to Parenthood of Southern New Jersey President Lynn Brown, who told the Cherry Hill Courier Post that “We all know it’s strictly ideological.” In fact, the clinic being closed doesn’t even perform abortions, although it does make referrals to Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.

When Christie first proposed the cuts he did so citing “unprecedented financial difficulties,” and then went so far as to assure citizens that “[r]eproductive health care services will continue to be available in each of New Jersey’s 21 counties, including Planned Parenthood clinics, local health department clinics, standing free clinics, and hospital-based clinics.”

Christie’s deputy press secretary Kevin Roberts told The Examiner, “From the beginning when we had to veto the $7.5 million funding restoration, it was purely on fiscal grounds. We just don’t have the money.”

Asked whether this cut meant no more state funds for abortions outside of Planned Parenthood, Roberts said it would not. “Women’s reproductive services, including abortions, will continue to be funded by a mix of state and federal funding.”

One of the writers at NRO's The Corner said a while back, "I wish I could vote for Governor Christie every day." For some reason, that line just stuck with me, because I keep hearing one great thing after another from this guy. He's a governor with nothing to lose: he's not banking on re-election or building some storied legacy, so he's just using his time in office to do the right thing. It's a beautiful thing.

WOOT!!! A few precious American babies were saved! We closed down one in Shreveport, LA for non-compliance w/ state laws, too. Finally after the holocaust of so many innocents, people are coming to their senses and saying ENOUGH MURDER!!!

Gov Christie just gets better and better. I love him, so! Praise God for a man of conviction.
