Could These Be Future Homes for Uppity Catholics?

Like you, I’ve heard about the alleged existence of secret government-established “detention centers” before, but only from the black-helicopter crowd, so I personally never paid any attention to the claims, dismissing them as preposterous, because “our government would never do something terrible like that to its own citizens. Right?”

“Well,” the voice of reason reminds me, “isn’t the government that would never do something like that to its citizens the same government that legally protects and sanctions and pays for the murder of millions of babies, the most defenceless of its citizens, through abortion?”

Point well taken.

So that’s why today, when I ran across this detention-camp article that seems to lend credibility to the claims, I thought I’d post it here for your consideration and comments.

Personally, I can totally see this as being part of a gradually expanding effort on the part of some in our government who would like to see trouble-makers of all kinds sequestered, if they get too vocal in their criticisms of things like FOCA

Combine this with the fact that the U.S. military has just recently redeployed a full combat brigade, formerly engaged in combat operations in Iraq, to take up duty right here in the United States — in preparation for massive “civil unrest.”

If these are dots we should be connecting, I’m not liking the pattern I see emerging here.

Rep. Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the secretary of homeland security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations.

The proposed bill, which has received little mainstream media attention, appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany.

The bill also appears to expand the president’s emergency power, much as the executive order signed by President Bush on May 9, 2007, that, as WND reported, gave the president the authority to declare an emergency and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress.

As WND also reported, DHS has awarde
d a $385 million contract to Houston-based KBR, Halliburton’s former engineering and construction subsidiary, to build temporary detention centers on an “as-needed” basis in national emergency situations.

From the military folks I know, if any kind of order to corral folks was put out….worst-case, it’d throw a match into the gas tank of civil war.

And that’s assuming that enough folks willing to do something so openly stupid and horrible were in charge, and enough folks below them trusted them enough to follow along.

That’d break down *really* fast once the “trusting” ones met up with the “p*ssed off” ones– military is very small, hard to find a group that doesn’t have someone you served with long enough to recognize.

You’re welcome, Karinann. And thanks to all of you who post comments.

My mother is 81 years old. The generation that lived through Nazi atrocities is almost gone. I have this feeling that when they are gone, the world will change in some very frightening ways.

This post is an answer to a prayer. I mean that literally. I have a dear friend who has been ranting about this stuff for months. Like others who have commented, as well as Mr. Madrid, I don’t doubt the possibility or reality of these things. Unfortunately much of it does seem impossibly possible. My question (and it is not rhetorical-please someone answer me!)is “What do we do with this?- when you tell the majoruty of people about this, they just say”Conspiracy Theory- can’t believe everything you read. True enough. I think my friend, though has become a bit obsessed with this- to the point he is subtly accusing me of sins of omission. Thank you for this post and thank you to my fellow bloggers for their comments. Also sorry for going on so long.

It’s the boiling crab syndrome. I had a boyfriend who was military, and DIDN’T like the Dems. I haven’t spoken to him in years, and doubt he would like Obama, although he was also black. (He HATED the term “African-American”; said he was AMERICAN. Period.)

In any case, I’m guessing the military is much like the rest of us; there are some who will view with distrust anything done by the current Regime. I would guess he might actually be disobedient over this, and would even desert before unjustly imprisoning fellow Americans.

There are others who will do anything out of their hierarchy of obedience, even if they disagree. And they’ll cite “training” to avoid responsiblity, even if it doesn’t sit right with them.

And there are those traitors in the military who VOTED for Obama’s Regime and are Anti-humanity at their very core, and will take to their new task as prison guards with great aplomb, thinking it’s all perfectly justified, believing all the pretty lies. Maybe they’re not “bad people” per se, but the future will compare them to the unapologetic and cowardly Nazi soldiers who put thousands to death in gas chambers.

I’m not convinced the “prisons” are real, but I’ll admit it’s possible. I don’t see black helicopters, I’m not a member of Posse Comitatis, and I think conspiracy theorists are cranks and have disengaged from logic.

But we can’t deny where this Regime is taking us, and what’s happening to our rights…one by one.

So…just reserve me a spot in the concentration camps and pray that I have the strength of character and holiness to say Yes to God and NO to the Dictator we’ve elected. Please, God, let me be an “uppity Catholic” as long as it gives You glory!

(sorry, didn’t mean to get logorrhea in your combox…) I’m done now.

I’m with you, Neal, that I find it incomprehensible that the US soldiers and sailors would every turn on their fellow citizens. And I’m certainly not predicting that. I do, though, find it disconcerting that these camps are being built. The reasoning given for them seems innocuous on the surface, and that may all it is — just innocuous.

I’m not saying I’m taking this stuff seriously, but I am starting to take notice of it. I guess we’ll wait and see.

  7. Neal Ford says:

I had previously attributed this sort of thing to the purview of the tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists, given my belief that that US Soldier would side with his fellow citizen before his government, but if someone like Patrick Madrid can start taking this stuff seriously, then something is probably up.

  8. memoriadei says:

Actually, I do think that there is boiling just under the surface. Not sure how disruptive people are against the “changes” that have come and are being snuck in already. But, the ones who objected to this type of change are not the violent ones. The “other” side, the very liberals, seem to be the more violent part of our country. So, maybe it’s for when moderates find out they were duped? Half kidding only.
