Where Are the Grownups at the Christina School District?

If this story doesn’t aggravate you, nothing will. A pint-sized cub scout has been suspended for bringing a “weapon” to school. And the rocket scientists who are running the school district whose boundaries this child has the misfortune to reside within have sentenced the little guy to reform school because of what they deem to have been a “level three offense.” Seriously.
Six-year-old Zachary Christie was so excited to become a Cub Scout that he brought his camping utensil to school. The tool serves as a spoon, a fork and a knife, and Zachary wanted to use it at lunch.What Zachary didn’t know was that the gizmo violated his school’s zero-tolerance policy on weapons. And now the Christina School District in Newark, Del., has suspended the first grader and ordered him to attend the district’s reform school for 45 days.
Zero-tolerance policies in general are stupid and ridiculous. Since when are informed, educated, KNOWLEDGEABLE adults incapable of judging a child's intent and acting accordingly?? Oh, that's right… since they started getting sued at every drop of a hat for discrimination if the little juvenile delinquent in question also happens to be a protected minority.
So you treat everyone the same… and stupidity results.
This is completely ridiculous….. in fact it's so ridiculous that I would not want any child of mine to be educated by such dullards. Hopefully they can afford to send the little guy to a private school.

urgh!!! Our country is so politically correct now that soon we will not be able to use forks or knives in the cafeterias…or have they already outlawed the knives?

We've got morons like that in Australia too Pat, fortunately they don't have the power to shoot (pardon the pun) a kid off to reform school (yet).
I could see being sent home, or simply taking away the tool and giving it to the parents; but this "reform school" is really ridiculous. Changing a child's environment when they crave structure like they do (especially as a punishment) is wrong.
