The Population Research Institute has a timely message for our society: “The idea of a world with no room or food is terrifying, but all it takes is checking the facts see how silly the whole thing is. We hope this video will do that for people.”

Global overpopulation isn't going to cause anyone to starve — we're nowhere close, that's not something to worry about (distribution is, but of course plenty of people already starve because of distribution). When we talk about overpopulation, it's an issue of quality vs. quantity — quality of food, air, health. What size population can really thrive in any local region? How much do we care about the loss of biodiversity in agriculture and in the wild? What standard of living do we want our children's children to have, and at what cost?

According to the clip, world population will peak in thirty years and start to go down. The unmentioned assumption is that thyis will occur because of abortion, sterilization, and contraception, hardly things PRI endorses.

I've heard estimates that the world could comfortably support 33 billion as is, with better distribution of resources, and even up tp 100 billion with improvements in technology.

I am not sure I agree, if you read articles on food supply versus population you might come a way with a different perspective. While I agree that the original theory might be flawed, I think there is merit to fear of over population. The world population can double in 25 years if left unchecked. This too me can be a scary idea, especially since we are currently in a food crisis.
