The five most pathetic words: “I am a pro-choice Catholic”

How does a formerly pro-life Catholic college girl morph into a pro-abortion zealot who identifies the roots of her transformation as including attending the National March for Life?

You read that right.

As implausible as it might sound, Kate Childs Graham says that this happened to her, and the results are not pretty. In her recent (2009) article “I Am a Pro-choice Catholic,” which appears in that notorious bastion of contumacy, The National Catholic Reporter, Ms. Childs Graham reveals:

“I wasn’t always a pro-choice Catholic. During college I attended the annual March for Life on more than one occasion. The first time my friends and I traveled to the event from Indianapolis, Ind., was with a bus full of high school students — most, seemingly, only going for the trip to Washington, D.C., with their friends, sans parental supervision. Needless to say, it was a noisy bus ride. After I transferred to Catholic University, I volunteered for the Mass for Life two years in a row, helping to herd all of those high school students into every crevice of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.”

One must wonder if Ms. Childs Graham herself was one of those young people who made the journey to Washington, not to protest the evil of legalized abortion, but simply because she wanted the freedom of a little road trip, “sans parental supervision.”

She claims that, “Each time I attended the March for Life, I felt overwhelmingly conflicted. On one hand, it was moving to be among so many people, all energized by their faith . . .” (continue reading)

My goodness reading some of the commentaries to the article on the link you just posted truly shows how Satan has deceived many of the “church-going” in the pews. Why the NCR would post such blatant dissident views and one’s insulting the institution of marriage is mind boggling. Sorry to be frank but they are no better than the likes of the National Enquirer. Thank goodness I stopped reading that paper as a source of Catholic news years ago.

Let’s be honest here, this saying needs to be updated. YOU CANT BE CATHOLIC, AND VOTE FOR ABORTION DEMOCRATS. This day in age being a Catholic and a Democrat are impossibe. One day Abortion will be illegal in this country, and people will look back at what was permitted to happen and say, WHY? Where was the Leadership? Where was the Church? How can HALF of “Catholics” vote for Abortion Democrats?

    • Jose says:

Very true Sara. I just wish the fellow parishioners in our church parking lots with their Obama and other pro-choice politician bumper stickers understand the gravity of the error in their mind and the scandal displayed on their possessions. May the Lord have mercy on them and Holy Mother of God pray for us!

Being a “Pro-Death” Catholic seems to be least of her worries:

  4. Lisa says:

Many pro-choice women have had abortions and need to justify their actions. God Bless the converted who seek forgiveness instead of loudness.

  5. Jim says:

What really gets me, is that SO MANY Catholics just don’t care about living the Faith! They have no clue of the Gift they have received. Just like the drought, you have to water and feed it, to make it grow.

    GLORY BE TO THE FATHER…..

  6. Frank says:

As much as I am deeply troubled by those who proclaim the false notion that they are a “Pro-choice Catholic”, I remain comforted by the fact that the Catholic Church will always be rejecting those errors until Jesus returns …

While those who deny the Fulness of Truth will be forgotten shortly after their passing from this world.

    AMEN

  7. Miriam says:

And she is for women priests. She gave up her Catholicism for temporal feel goods.

‘Kate Childs Graham writes for ReligionDispatches.org [3] and YoungAdultCatholics-Blog.com [4]. She also serves on the Women’s Ordination Conference board of directors and the Call to Action Next Generation Leadership Team.’

She is your basic progressive which basically means she has no clue.

  8. Laura says:

Sad. The term “invincible ignorance” sprang to my mind for the first time in many years!
She and anyone who thinks her arguments constitute a reasonable compromise with evil need our prayers-and LOTS of them.

“. . . and how murder is always a mortal sin.” Murder is not always a mortal sin, however it is always grave matter, grave matter, of course, being one of the three requisites to a mortal sin.

    • JFONeill says:

Murder is not the same thing as homicide. Murder, for a long time in English, included several elements. The definition of homicide is the killing of another human by a human. The definition of murder is the “Unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought”. As you can see, murder includes a homicide, but also intent and knowledge.
