Map of the world by population

I find this map very interesting and quite telling. Notice, for example, how disproportionately small Russia is compared to China and India and, for that matter, the United States. Compare Australia with Sri Lanka (both with 20 million inhabitants), Nigeria with France and Germany (Nigeria is equal to both of them combined), and Pakistan with Spain, France, and Germany (Muslim Pakistan is equal to all three of those “Christian” countries combined). As first-world players go, Canada is utterly negligible, as are Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Lowly Bangladesh dwarfs all of South America, with the exception of Brazil. Compare Muslim Indonesia with “Christian” Europe. What conclusions do you draw?

  1. So where is the scale that describes the meanings of the different colors??
Am I missing something. As the map stands, it is just a pretty map with lots
    of colors.
    God Bless

Canada is a first world player because Canada is the US’s Oil Pimp. Not to mention that Canada deals mostly in raw materials which is why the Canadian economy did not crash when everyone elses did. When I see population numbers I always wonder how accurate they are. I remeber that Russia had a huge population adjustment when wall came down and the Russian government finally took all the dead people off the books.

    • Canada is a negligible first-world player when it comes to population strength. There’s no need to wonder how accurate the numbers are when you can just consult the Government of Canada’s own statistics: http://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/index-eng.cfm

I notice that the population map on my blog actually overstates Canada’s small population a little bit when compared to the governmental statistics. The problem of stunted and declining population levels in certain countries would seem to be directly attributable to the twin evils of contraception and abortion.
